Are you going to credit check your plumber or plasterer?

This always makes me laugh. Why would a good credit score mean that I can put a piece of coving up straight or fix a leak? It really gets my goat that so called advisors advise customers to check the credit standing of their tradesperson. What has that got to do with the price of bread? Absolutely nothing!

And yet loads of trade directories and trade membership bodies seem to be hung up on this and it is total garbage in my book. Read the rest of this entry »

Brits spend £235m per year on DIY mistakes!

I have just read a report over at everyinvestor.co.uk saying “House-proud Brits spent £235million putting right DIY disasters in the last year, according to new research from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks.  The Banks found that one in 10 ‘DIYers’ had paid out up to £500 to fix their own DIY.” Read the rest of this entry »

Have you seen this pumpkin?

Have you seen this pumpkin?, originally uploaded by maxxy2008.

I know it’s not usual to see pumpkins on a plumbing and plastering blog but I thought I would show the pumpkins that I was growing for my grandchildren for Halloween.

Then some miserable git has come along on two occasions and nicked them. The first one vanished beginning of this month and a second one yesterday.

So my grandchildren now have to share instead of having one each.

Needless to say I have now dug the other four up early.

What’s the world coming to eh?

Thanks for listening,
Tim

Corner Bath, brown and beige tiles, lovely Bathstore example

We have been fitting Bathstore products for a long time now and thought we would share this recent example with you.

The tiles are from Topps Tiles in Huntingdon and the customer chose a design consisting of two colours.

The bathroom layout was redesigned by us to make good use of the room space with a corner bath, shower, toilet and basin.

You don’t always have to have a like-for-like bathroom refit (with things in the same places as they are now. If you are curious about something different then we can work with you to see what alternatives are available to you. We love a challenge!

Cupboard Under Stairs are very handy indeed!

Having a built in wardrobe is great for best use of space as floor to ceiling space is utilised and no need to purchase a wardrobe for exact fit!

We have done quite a few of these now and here is a picture of a recent cupboard under the stairs that was built to use space in a living room.

A door was sourced to match other doors (apart from the one leading into the garage that you can see on this pic) and coving was fitted to match the existing coving.

Costs including all materials and labour are usually around £450 so it’s probably cheaper than you think to make use of wasted space!
